Are NHL bets settled including overtime?
No, by default they are settled on the result after 60 minutes of regulation. Overtime and shootouts only count when the market explicitly says "incl. OT/SO".

These Betting Rules govern all wagers placed at WinSpirit Casino & Sportsbook by Canadian players. They cover both casino-style games (slots, table games, live dealer) and sports betting, including the in-play and pre-match markets. They sit alongside our Terms & Conditions, our Privacy Policy, and any specific bonus or promotion terms in force at the time of your bet.
By placing a bet, you confirm that you are of legal gambling age, that you are betting in your own name and with your own funds, and that you have read these Rules. WinSpirit reserves the right to amend the Rules; material changes are notified at least 14 days in advance and apply only to bets placed after the change becomes effective.
WinSpirit operates as a private wagering operator under the licence of Antillephone N.V., authorised by the Government of Curaçao (licence 8048/JAZ2020-013). Single-event sports wagering became legally available to Canadian residents following the federal Bill C-218 amendments to the Criminal Code in 2021. Provincial gambling regulations apply to physical operators within Canada and do not prohibit private players from accessing licensed offshore operators.
You must be of legal gambling age in your province (19 in most provinces; 18 in Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec). Each player may hold one account only. WinSpirit may decline registrations from residents of the United States, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, Cyprus, Israel, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, and any other jurisdiction where online gambling is prohibited by local law and from individuals appearing on relevant sanctions or self-exclusion registers. Employees of WinSpirit, their immediate families, and individuals in a position to influence the outcome of an event (including athletes, coaches, and officials of sports we cover) are not permitted to bet on those events.
A bet is considered placed only after it has been accepted by our system and a confirmation receipt has been generated. Until then, the wager has no effect. The receipt — including stake, market, selection, odds, and time-stamp — is the authoritative record. If your screen displays different details from the receipt, the receipt prevails.
Slot games and instant-win titles operate using certified random number generators provided by independent suppliers. The published RTP percentage is theoretical and refers to long-run play across millions of spins; individual sessions may produce significantly higher or lower returns. Specific paytables, paylines, and bonus mechanics are set by the game and shown in the help screens accessible from inside each game.
Our game suppliers include Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Microgaming, Play’n GO, Yggdrasil, Evolution Gaming, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Push Gaming, ELK Studios, Big Time Gaming, Relax Gaming, Quickspin, and Red Tiger Gaming. We do not modify games supplied by third parties; outcomes are determined entirely on the supplier's certified servers.
Live-dealer games are operated by certified studios on our suppliers' platforms. Where in-game rules differ between studios (for example, dealer hits or stands on soft 17 in blackjack), the rule shown at the live table applies. We support the most common variants:
Disconnection during live games: if you lose connection during a hand at a live table, the round continues without your further input. Pre-placed decisions and committed wagers are settled on the table's outcome. Where no decision was committed (for example, you had not chosen to hit or stand), the result is settled per the table's standard "auto-stand / auto-hold" rule.
If a game malfunctions or our service drops mid-round, we will check the supplier's logs to determine the correct state. Where the round can be reconstructed faithfully, we settle accordingly. Where it cannot, the round is voided and the stake refunded. Refunds appear in your real-money or bonus balance, matching the source of the stake. If a malfunction is suspected to be the result of a bug giving an unfair advantage, results are reviewed before any payout.
Bonus funds, free spins, and locked balances are subject to the specific terms of the offer. The full schedule of game contributions toward wagering requirements is at the Promotions Help Centre and your specific bonus terms. Common rules:
One selection on one event. Settled when the underlying event ends.
Two or more independent selections combined; all selections must win for the bet to win. If any selection is voided, that selection is removed and the multiple recalculated at the remaining odds.
Multiple combinations of selections (for example, a Yankee, Trixie, or Lucky 15). Each combination is settled separately; partial wins are possible.
Common in horse racing and golf. The stake is split equally between "win" and "place" portions; each is settled independently using the place terms shown at the time of bet placement.
Bets placed after the event has started. Odds change rapidly and bets may be subject to a brief acceptance delay (see Section 16).
Odds offered on the Service are subject to change at any time before your bet is accepted. The price applied is the price displayed on your bet slip at the moment of acceptance. If the price has changed during submission, the bet may be rejected; in some markets, our system can accept the new price automatically if you have enabled the "accept all odds changes" option.
Bets are settled using official results from the relevant league or governing body, as published on its website. Statistics from third-party feeds (for example, player props) are settled using the data provider listed in the market terms. We do not amend settlements based on subsequent corrections, replays, or appeals unless required by the league within 72 hours of the original result.
Unless a market explicitly states otherwise (for example, "including overtime / shootout"), all hockey bets are settled on the result after 60 minutes of regulation time. Overtime and shootout outcomes do not count for the moneyline, puck line, or totals on these markets.
Standard markets are settled on 90 minutes of regulation plus injury time, excluding extra time and penalties. Tournament outright markets include all subsequent stages. If a match is abandoned before 90 minutes, all bets are void unless an outcome has already been definitively determined (for example, a side has scored more than the other and the abandonment cannot reverse the result, in which case settled markets stand).
Settled including overtime unless the market specifies "regulation only". Player props include overtime unless otherwise noted.
Bets stand if at least 5 innings are played (4½ if the home team is leading), in line with MLB official-game rules. Run line and totals follow the same threshold. Listed pitchers may be specified at bet placement.
If a match is abandoned or a player retires before completing the match, the player who advances is the winner for moneyline purposes, regardless of the score at the time of retirement. Set-betting and game-line markets that have not been concluded at the time of retirement are voided.
If a fighter is replaced before the bout begins, all moneyline bets are void. If the bout starts and a fighter is unable to continue, the official decision is used. "No-contest" results void the bet.
Settled on the official tournament result. Roster changes after market opening but before the match starts may void affected markets. Walkover or forfeit voids non-completed markets.
Settled on the first official passing the post. Subsequent demotions through stewards' enquiries are honoured if announced within 30 minutes of the official result. Non-runners are voided and stakes returned at SP rules.
If an event is officially cancelled and not rescheduled within 48 hours of its original start time, all unsettled bets on that event are voided and stakes returned. Markets that have already produced a definitive outcome by the time of cancellation may be settled at our discretion.
If an event is postponed and rescheduled within 48 hours of its original start time, bets stand. If rescheduled later than 48 hours or moved to a venue that materially affects the market (for example, neutral ground for a derby), bets are voided.
When two or more selections share a winning position, dead-heat rules apply: the stake is divided by the number of tied selections and settled at the original odds.
Maximum payouts apply per bet, per day, per customer. Where multiple selections (for example, a parlay) exceed the cap, the payout is limited to the cap.
| Sport / Market | Max payout (CAD) |
|---|---|
| Hockey (NHL — top division) | 500,000 |
| Soccer (top European leagues, UEFA, MLS) | 500,000 |
| Basketball (NBA, EuroLeague) | 500,000 |
| Baseball (MLB) | 300,000 |
| Tennis (Grand Slams, ATP/WTA Tour) | 250,000 |
| MMA / UFC | 200,000 |
| Esports | 100,000 |
| All other markets | 50,000 |
Where odds, lines, or other market parameters are clearly wrong (a "palpable error" — for example, a price that is materially different from the market consensus due to a typing or feed error), bets accepted at the erroneous price are voided and stakes returned. Examples include price inversions, incorrect handicaps, and lines posted with the wrong sign.
Live odds are based on real-time data feeds that may include short delays relative to the broadcast you are watching. We apply a brief acceptance delay (typically 1–6 seconds) to confirm the state of play before a bet is accepted. During this window, the bet may be rejected or accepted at adjusted odds. Bets placed after a goal, point, or other material event but before the market is suspended are voided.
Bonus bets and free bets (sometimes called "tokens") return only the net winnings, not the stake. Minimum and maximum odds, eligible markets, and expiry windows are shown in the offer terms. Bonus bets cannot be cashed out, withdrawn, or used in combination with other promotional offers unless explicitly stated.
The following behaviours are prohibited and may lead to the voiding of bets, forfeiture of winnings, and account suspension or closure:
If you are dissatisfied with the settlement of a bet, please follow our three-stage complaints process:
No, by default they are settled on the result after 60 minutes of regulation. Overtime and shootouts only count when the market explicitly says "incl. OT/SO".
No. Once your bet receipt is generated, the bet stands. The Cash Out feature, where available, lets you settle early at the operator's offered price.
The voided leg is removed and the parlay is recalculated at the remaining odds. The remaining selections still need to win for the parlay to win.
We aim to settle bets within minutes of the official result. Markets reliant on third-party data may take longer; if a settlement is delayed beyond 48 hours, our risk team manually reviews and updates.
Only events shown on our Service may be bet on. We do not generally offer markets on amateur, junior, or under-18 sports for integrity reasons.
A clearly wrong price or line — for example, a hockey moneyline of -2000 against a similarly matched opponent. Bets accepted at palpable errors are voided.
In live betting, brief acceptance delays let our system confirm the state of play. If the odds change or the market is suspended during that window, the bet may be rejected. Enable "accept all odds changes" if you prefer the system to take the new price automatically.
It depends on the sport. Soccer typically requires 90 minutes; baseball typically 5 innings; tennis settles moneyline on the player who advances. See Section 10 for the full breakdown.
The stake is divided by the number of tied selections and settled at the original odds. The portion that is not settled at the original odds is treated as a loss. See the worked example in Section 13.
